Front Range

The snowpack is thin in most areas. You may find some isolated spots where you could trigger avalanches near and above treeline in places that catch and hold wind-drifted snow. The most dangerous slopes face north, northeast, and east. Unfortunately, any steep slope that harbors continuous snow cover could produce an avalanche. Avoid bulbous pillows of wind-drifted snow on slopes steeper than about 30 degrees, especially below ridgelines or in gully features. Stick to lower-angle terrain as a safer option.
