In sintesi

Warm temperatures and new snow have created areas of unstable snow on steep slopes at the mid and upper elevations. Soft surface slabs 10 to 30 inches in depth that were formed by south and west winds could be triggered by humans who venture into steep terrain and cliff areas. At the lower elevations rain and warm temperatures have created some potential for wet slides to occur on very steep slopes.

    Dense surface slabs up to 30 inches in depth at the upper elevations and up to 15 inches in depth at the mid elevations lie upon hard old snow surfaces and could be triggered by skiers or riders who venture into steep avalanche prone terrain and cliff areas.

    Wet slides are possible on very steep slopes at the lower elevations where rain and warm temperatures have combined to create an unstable isothermal snowpack.

Avalanche Discussion

A moist and unstable Pacific trough will pass over western Wyoming tonight. Winds will shift to the northwest and temperatures will drop into the teens in the mountains and into the 20s in the valley by daybreak. Several inches of additional snow fall are possible. On Monday skies will be mostly cloudy with mountain snow showers. Temperatures will rise into the 20s in the mountains and into the 30s in the valleys. Winds will decrease and back towards the south. The general avalanche hazard expected to be MODERATE at the mid and upper elevations. Humans who venture into steep terrain could trigger dense slab avalanches up to 30 inches in depth. The hazard at the lower elevations is expected to be LOW.
