Strong winds and and up to 20 inches of new snow have combined to create dangerous avalanche conditions. Humans who venture into avalanche terrain are likely to trigger slab avalanches that could run long distances. Conservative terrain choices are essential for safe travel in avalanche terrain today.

Strong west-southwest winds have created wind slabs up to three in depth on leeward aspects. These slabs lie upon slick old snow surfaces and weak layers of faceted snow. Humans who venture into avalanche terrain are likely to trigger these dangerous slabs. Natural releases are also possible.
