Avalanche Summary

The most dangerous areas will be steep slopes, with over 8 inches of new or recently wind-drifted snow. You are most likely to find thicker wind drifts in above treeline areas. You may encounter drifting on westerly-facing slopes due to the easterly winds overnight. Most avalanches will be relatively small and easy to manage unless you are in steep consequential terrain above rocks, trees, or cliffs where even a small avalanche can send you for a dangerous ride. Each spring, we see close calls after spring snow storms where riders eager to step into steep terrain are knocked down and sent bouncing off couloir walls or over cliffs. If you are stepping into steeper, more consequential terrain be careful today.
