At the mid and high elevations, riders and skiers have the potential to trigger dense surface slabs with depths to thirty inches in steep avalanche terrain. At the low elevations avalanche activity is unlikely today. The Ski Bum Music Festival, a benefit for this avalanche center, will occur tonight at the Stagecoach in Wilson and feature many great bands such as Chanman Roots Band.
Avalanche Discussion
A few snow showers remain possible Saturday night and into Sunday, but little accumulation is expected. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the single digits before rising to near 20 on Sunday. Ridgetop winds will back to the northeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour. The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be:MODERATE in the Teton area where it will be possible for backcountry travelers to trigger pockets of dense surface slabs up to thirty inches deep in steep terrain.CONSIDERABLE in the Greys River area. In steep terrain, skiers and riders could trigger surface slabs to two feet along with dangerous, full depth hard slabs.MODERATE in the Togwotee Pass area where triggering pockets of hard slabs to the ground will be possible in very steep terrain.
