In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE at the upper elevations and MODERATE at the mid elevations. Recently developed soft slabs up to 18 inches in depth could be triggered by backcountry travelers on steep, wind loaded slopes. Deeper slabs, involving the majority of the snowpack, could initiate on weak, faceted snow near the ground, particularly on shaded slopes that held snow from October. The general avalanche hazard below an elevation of 7,500 feet is LOW and avalanche activity is isolated to small, shallow pockets in steep ravines and road cuts. Evaluate the snowpack carefully, use cautious route-finding and make conservative decisions.

Avalanche Discussion

Zonal flow will bring limited moisture to the area on Sunday producing some cloud cover and a chance for some light, scattered flurries. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the single digits before rising into the low 20s. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 15 to 25 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the higher elevations on Sunday. Recently developed soft slabs up to 18 inches deep could be triggered by backcountry travelers on very steep, wind loaded slopes. Some potential persists for deeper slabs, which involve the majority of the snowpack, to be triggered on weak, faceted snow near the ground, particularly on shaded slopes that held snow from October. At the lower elevations, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW and avalanches are unlikely.
