In sintesi

At the mid and upper elevations instabilities associated with a buried layer of faceted snow persist. Hard slabs up to four feet in depth could be human triggered on steep slopes especially by larger triggers such as snow machines or when a "trigger point" or weak spot is hit which may occur after several skiers or riders have crossed a slope. Northerly and easterly aspects are the most prone to these instabilities, however slope failure on other aspects is possible. Once triggered, these hard slab avalanches would likely have serious consequenses. At low elevations, avalanches are unlikely in the shallow snowpack. The Teton Mountain Lodge is hosting a benefit for the avalanche center today from 2 to 6 PM. This event will include entertainment, beverages, appetizers and raffle items.
