At the mid and upper elavations DANGEROUS unstable slabs persist on all aspects in avalanche terrain. These slabs lie upon weak faceted snow and crusts near the ground and average four feet in depth yet have been reported up to eight feet in depth. The slabs have become more dense from increased snow and high South-Westerly winds over the last several days yet still can be triggered by backcountry skiers and boarders and not necessarily by the first person on the slope. Yesterday a snowmobiler broke his femur in Darby Canyon in a slide with a 5' crown on a N.N.W. aspect and a snowboarder died from trauma sustained in a slide with a 2-3' crown on a N.E. aspect above Ski Lake on Teton Pass. The slope was reported to have been skied earlier and the snowboarder was not buried during the event. At the lower elevations isolated pockets of slab could be triggered on steep wind loaded aspects after crusts have softened.
