On extremely steep slopes individual small moist snow slides are possible as the day progresses,, in isolated cases also on shady slopes, in particular at the base of rock walls. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in very isolated cases. Snowpack Structure
As a consequence of mild temperatures and solar radiation the snowpack consolidated. Field observations and stability tests show good snowpack stability. Less snow than usual is lying. On steep sunny slopes below approximately 2500 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes.
Tendency
Over a wide area 10 to 15 cm of snow will fall on Wednesday above approximately 1500 m. The avalanche danger will increase during the day.
