Forecast Snow Stability: The vast majority of the snow will be well bonded and stable. Isolated accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will persist in a few steeper, wind sheltered locations on East through South to South-West aspects above 1000 metres, mostly in the higher mountains along the Northern boundary of the forecast area. Superficial cover at lower elevations will start to slowly thaw. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Mostly dry with just a trace of snow forecast overnight and at the end of the afternoon. South-Easterly winds throughout, increasing to become gale force on the summits after midday. The freezing level will fluctuate during the day with the air temperature hovering around zero to one degrees centigrade at 900 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A mostly dry day with occasional breaks in the cloud to give strong sunshine. Light, generally Westerly winds. Freezing level rising to around 1000 metres by early afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: Recent accumulations are continuing to consolidate in the slightly milder conditions, remaining soft but becoming more stable. Localised, moderately bonded deposits persist in a few steeper, wind sheltered locations on East through South to South-West aspects above 1000 metres. Areas affected include scarp slopes, defined corrie rims and gully tops, mostly along the Northern boundary of the forecast area. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
