NC 13/4 Overnight rain and wet snow, strong NW winds. Wet snow instabilities on all aspects above 1000m. Cornice collapse. Mod haz.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will become increasing soft and moist. Overnight instabilities will be present on all steep aspects above 1000 metres. Areas most affected will be where deeper accumulations remain, especially around gully tops and coire rims. During the day the snowpack will become more stable as the precipitation clears. Cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight precipitation will be rain at all levels with wet snow during the early hours on the highest summits. Light North-Easterly winds will back to the North-West. During the day precipitation will clear, becoming dry during the afternoon. The North-West winds will increase moderate to strong. The freezing level is expected to remain above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and overcast day with strong South-Easterly winds. The freezing level was around the highest summits. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is mainly soft and moist at all altitudes and is generally stable. Accumulations are most widespread above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
