Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of fresh unstable windslab will develop, mainly affecting North through East to South-East aspect above 850 metres. Steep wind sheltered locations such as gullies and coire rims will be most affected. Fragile cornices will form above these aspects. Elsewhere the old snowpack will be well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers throughout the forecast period will fall as snow above around 800 metres. Moderate South-West winds will veer Westerly during the afternoon. The freezing level will be around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry day with very strong South-South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack continues to consolidate and is well bonded and stable throughout. The snowpack is beginning to refreeze above 800 metres with a gradual thaw continuing at lower elevations. Isolated deposits of fresh windslab are present on North to East aspects above 900 metres. These deposits are shallow and not extensive. The avalanche hazard is Low.
