Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered areas overnight and during the morning, mainly on North-West to North-East aspects above 800 metres. West aspects will also be affected and older weaknesses will remain on East aspects. Instability will increase during the day as the freezing level rises and snow turns increasingly to rain at all levels. Cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be generally South-South-Easterly, moderate during the evening then increasing strong overnight before easing moderate again during the day. The freezing level will be around 500 metres overnight, gradually rising during the day to be above the summits by early afternoon. It is expected to be dry overnight, then light snow at all levels from pre-dawn turning to rain at all levels by mid-afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry cold day, with the freezing level rising to around 500 metres. Winds were North-West backing to become South-Westerly in direction, moderate to strong. ObservedSnowStability: Redistribution of snow has led to fresh windslab being deposited in wind sheltered areas, mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Where this has gained depth it is weakly bonded, but these areas are not particularly extensive. Weaknesses persist in the older windslab lying mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Weak cornices are present above these aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
