Weather forecast today shows it is heating up again to mid 40's and low 50's even at higher elevations, with direct solar impacts on south facing slopes. With that being said, last night was the 3rd night in a row with a solid overnight freeze with inversion (colder temps in the valleys, warmer temps in higher elevations) combined with moderate active winds mid slope. Look for signs of loose point release instabilities in the late afternoon on solar aspects like roller balls and wet saturated snow underfoot. Caution should be used when traveling in steeper rocky terrain in the afternoon, where smaller wet loose instabilities and sticky-manky snow could pull you into terrain traps.
Yesterday traveling at all elevations, signs of old warming runnels were spotted on due south aspects but roller ball and signs of new Wet Loose were minimal or non existent. Early day surface condtions will be firm and icy. A sharps kit will be useful for folks getting a true alpine start. Though north aspects are still holding cold-chalky snow, especially at mid and higher elevations.
