Central Cascades

Significant avalanches will be unlikely on Wednesday.  Continue to use safe travel techniques and watch for unstable snow on isolated terrain features.  I will stress this advice particularly if you are using the nice weather to access bigger, steeper alpine terrain.

We haven't had any notable avalanche activity.  This can be attributed to the calm clear weather, cool temperatures, and lack of persistent weak layers burried in our snowpack.  Snow profiles throughout the region (like Jonas's from Tam Rim today) are showing a "right-side-up" snowpack.  The one exception might be some burried surface hoar found in the Todd Ridge glades last week.

Some level 1 students might have keyed into my use of the 3 "c" words:  calm, clear, and cool, and just as we might expect there was some well developed surface hoar on North aspects today.  On the surface this layer is fun to ride through.  Once it becomes burried it can be a dangerous weak layer.  With incoming snow on Thursday, it'll be something to keep in mind.
