Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The remaining snow cover will be well bonded, very firm and stable. Any new snow deposits that fall overnight are not expected to be significant. While snow cover is patchy, significant areas will remain in gullies, corries and summit areas on many aspects over 750 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Occasional showers will fall as snow above around 700 metres overnight and turn to rain at most levels during the day. The freezing level will gradually rise above all summits during the day with strong Southerly winds. Observed Weather Influences: A cold, dry sunny day with moderate mainly Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack is well bonded, very firm and stable. A superficial covering of new snow lies on some of the higher summits of the more inland mountains in the area. While snow cover is patchy, significant areas of very firm snow remain in some gullies corries and summit areas above 750 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
