Forecast Snow Stability: Good stability on all windward slopes where there will be hard or crusty conditions. Older windslab on recent lee slopes expected to consolidate over the forecast period. New weak localised windslab development anticipated on steep sheltered West to North-West aspects above 950m; some selected steep North facing slopes and gullies will also be affected. Cornices will overhang some of these locations. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: A period of snowfall overnight and into the morning then generally dry. Strong East-South-Easterly winds throughout. Briefly freezing near summits overnight then progressively colder again. Observed Weather Influences: Persistent light snowfall from the early hours onwards. Strong East-South-Easterly airflow. Cold throughout. ObservedSnowStability: Most windward slopes remain scoured down to hard or crusty snow ice and here stability is good. Persistent drifting resulted in new weak windslab build up mainly on steep West to North-West aspects above 950m; selected steep North aspects also affected. New weak cornice development above steepest lee slopes. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
