Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

Above approximately 1600 m snow will fall until midday over a wide area. 20 to 30 cm of snow will fall above approximately 2200 m. Until the afternoon the weather will be partly cloudy. Small and medium-sized avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. The new snow must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects and generally at intermediate and high altitudes.

Snowpack Structure

Towards its surface, the snowpack is weak. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in all aspects. Below approximately 2400 m only a little snow is lying on south facing slopes.

Tendency

Significant warming. On steep slopes numerous small and medium-sized gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible as the moisture increases.
