In sintesi

Where a robust crust exists, the avalanche danger is low.
Steep south-facing slopes may soften if the sun is out.

  • We have a good understanding of the snowpack structure and confidence in the weather forecast

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanche observations were reported on Wednesday.

Snowpack Summary

A 2 to 5 cm melt-freeze crust caps the recent 20 cm of storm snow. Moist snow can be found below the surface crust.

The mid to lower snowpack contains a few crust/facet layers, including one buried in mid December, now 50 to 80 cm deep.

  • Limit exposure to steep, sun exposed slopes, especially when the solar radiation is strong.
