Avalanche Summary

New snow and strong winds will increase the avalanche danger on Sunday. Avoid steep slopes where you find more than about 10 inches of new or recently wind-drifted snow. Look for signs of danger such as smooth rounded pillows of snow below ridgelines and in cross-loaded gullies and couloirs. If you experience cracking or collapsing in the new snow stick to slopes with a slope angle less than about 35 degrees. You can find safer conditions in below treeline and wind-sheltered areas.

Weather Summary

Although unlikely, you may be able to trigger small avalanches where you find more than about eight inches of new or wind-drifted snow. Look for drifted areas below ridgelines, in steep gullies, and in other features that catch and hold the snow. If you encounter warning signs like cracking or collapsing, stick to lower-angle terrain. Even a tiny slide could knock you down and send you for a rough ride.

Be observant of changing conditions as a storm approaches the area. Change your plans accordingly if snowfall amounts are higher than expected.
