An Avalanche Watch has been extended through today. The General Avalanche Hazard remains CONSIDERABLE. In addition to the possibility of natural avalanche activity, deadly slabs up to 5 feet in depth remain very susceptible to human triggers on a variety of aspects. Yesterday, two snowmobilers triggered a large slide in the Greys River area on an Easterly aspect at 9,500 feet. Both were completely buried 6 to 10 feet deep. One was recovered alive, the other was not. Skier triggered and natural avalanche activity was reported on Angle Mountain yesterday. Avalanche knowledge, excellent route finding skills, and the ability to resist peer pressure are all essential for safe travel in avalanche terrain today.
