In sintesi

A mostly stable snowpack exist. At the upper elevations isolated pockets of hard wind slab could be triggered by skiers or riders who venture into very steep chutes, cliff areas and near cornices. Sunshine and warming temperatures will increase the hazard in the afternoon. Monitor conditions and watch out for areas of unstable snow in very steep terrain after snow surfaces become soft.

Isolated pockets of wind slab up to two feet in depth could be triggered by humans who venture into very steep chutes, onto and beneath cornices and in cliff areas. Sunshine and increasing temperatures will increase the sensitivity of these shallow slabs to human triggers.

Large cornices exist and could fail during the heat of the day. Avoid cornices and the slopes beneath those cornices.

Avalanche Discussion

Dry conditions with mostly clear skies and warmer temperatures will occur under the existing high pressure ridge. Overnight lows will be in the upper teens. On Tuesday temperatures will rise into the upper 30s and 40s in the mountains and to near 50 degrees in the valley. Winds will back to the southwest and increase from speeds of 10 miles per hour around daybreak to 20 miles per hour with higher gusts by sunset. The general avalanche hazard is expected to LOW in the morning in the Teton area and at the lower elevations of the Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass and Southwest Trails/Greys River areas. It will be MODERATE at the mid and upper elevations of the Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass and Southwest Trails/Greys River areas where some potential may persist for snowmobilers to trigger deep hard slabs with depth to six feet in isolated areas. The abundant sunshine and warm temperatures will increase the hazard in all areas during the afternoon hours.
