South and west wind transported the few inches of snow from late last week, resulting in relatively small pockets of wind slab reactive to a human trigger. These pillowy looking drifts of snow should feel more dense than other surface snow. Isolated to our most wind affected ridges, most terrain lacks this avalanche problem today. Small avalanches can result in big consequences, especially in the terrain above treeline where you can find these wind slabs.

Shooting cracks in shallow wind slab, indicating that our weight could trigger an avalanche in these generally small pockets of wind slab. 6,400', E aspect, near Lower Glidden Lake.
