Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind. In all regions 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall above approximately 1800 m.
Strong westerly wind: In the course of the day sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form above approximately 2000 m. In particular on very steep slopes small and medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are possible, in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The fresh snow and the resulting wind slabs will be deposited on surface hoar in some places on wind-protected shady slopes above the tree line. Mostly the avalanches in these loacations are shallow and can be released by a single winter sport participant.
The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Up to 1900 m rain will fall until Thursday over a wide area. The fresh snow and the wind slabs that are forming during the snowfall represent the main danger. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack in some cases, in particular at intermediate altitudes. Less snow than usual is lying.
The new snow and wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in all aspects. The avalanche danger will increase but remain within the current danger level.
