Tetons
Pericolo valanghe
In sintesi
Dense surface slabs to three foot depths could be easily triggered by backcountry travelers today in steep terrain at the high elevations. At the mid elevations pockets of slab to two foot depths could be triggered. Warming temperatures today will increase the sensitivity of these slabs and also provide for the possibility of wet slides, particularly in steep terrain at the lower elevations where rain throughout the evening rapidly weakened the snowpack.
Avalanche Discussion
A high pressure ridge is to affect the area through Friday. West winds are to decrease to averages between fifteen and twenty miles per hour by morning. Skies are to be partly cloudy and temperatures are to rise into the mid to upper thirties.During the morning, the general avalanche hazard will be Moderate above 9000 feet where pockets of slab to two feet lie, and Low below 9000 feet. The hazard will increase in the afternoon as sunlight and increasing temperatures weaken the surface of the snowpack, providing for the chance of wet loose activity at all elevations as well as making the dense slabs that lie at high elevations more sensitive.
