Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs are to be assessed with care and prudence. Backcountry touring calls for a certain restraint.

In particular in the regions exposed to precipitation and on wind-loaded slopes dry slab avalanches are to be expected as a consequence of the snowfall. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects.

Snowpack Structure

The fresh snow as well as the extensive wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack in all aspects. In some places the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack.

Tendency

The snowpack remains generally unstable. Down to 500 m snow will fall over a wide area.
