As a consequence of a strong wind from easterly directions, avalanche prone wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as above approximately 2200 m. Avalanches can be released in the old snowpack. Caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines above the tree line, as well as at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. As a consequence of warming wet and gliding avalanches are possible from the early morning, in particular medium-sized ones. This applies especially in steep rocky terrain. Backcountry touring calls for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and caution.
As a consequence of rising temperatures and partly cloudy skies a crust formed on the surface during the last few days. This applies in particular below approximately 2300 m. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack.
