The sometimes strong wind will transport the new snow significantly. In particular wind-loaded slopes are especially dangerous. Fresh wind slabs are mostly easy to recognise and can be released easily at their margins. Soft weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example.
The wind was strong over a wide area. The fresh and older wind slabs have formed in all aspects. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack. In particular transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are especially dangerous.
