Snowpack Summary

Anywhere form 5 to 25 cm of recent snow may sit overtop a widespread thick crust. New snow may not be bonding well with the underlying crust. This crust should provide a bridge over any previous layers of concern deeper in the snowpack.

Snow depth at treeline is roughly 60 to 80 cm and decreases dramatically at lower elevations.

Weather Summary

Friday Night

Mostly clear with no precipitation, southwest alpine winds 20 to 30 km/h, treeline temperature -7 °C.

Saturday

Cloudy with 5 to 10 cm of snow, south alpine winds 30 to 40 km/h, treeline temperature -5 °C.

Sunday

Cloudy with 2 to 5 cm of snow, southwest alpine winds 40 to 50 km/h, treeline temperature 0 °C.

Monday

Mostly sunny with 5 to 10 cm of snow overnight ending Monday morning, east alpine winds 20 to 30 km/h, treeline temperature -2 °C.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Watch for fresh storm slabs building throughout the day.
  • Closely monitor how the new snow is bonding to the crust.
  • Early season avalanches at any elevation have the potential to be particularly dangerous due to obstacles that are exposed or just below the surface.
