Forecast Snow Stability: The surface of the old snowpack will refreeze in the colder conditions, and will generally be stable on all aspects and at all levels. During the later afternoon there may be some deposits of new snow, though accumulations gaining depth are not expected to be extensive. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight winds will be moderate West-South-Westerly veering North-Westerly; during the day light North-West backing Southerly. This evening the freezing level will lower to around 800 metres, where it will stay during the rest of the period. After a little light snow this evening the period will be mainly dry, with some light snow above 600 metres possible during the later afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: It was a mild day with the freezing level above the summits and light rain at all levels. Winds were moderate generally Southerly. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack continues to thaw and consolidate at all levels, and is generally stable. Remaining cornices are prone to collapse. Greatest accumulations of snow lie on North to East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
