LO for 22/1. Slow consolidation. Windslab and wet snow instabilities mainly on N-E-S aspects above 800m. Cornices! Moderate hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will slowly consolidate in the mild conditions. Instabilities will persist in deeper accumulations of windslab and wet snow surface instabilities will be present. North through East to South aspects above 800 metres will be most affected. Cornices, mainly to be found above these aspects, will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force Southerly winds will ease through the day. Showers will generally fall as rain with snow possible only on the highest summits. The freezing level will be above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: Gale force Southerly winds. Occasional showers falling as snow only on the highest summits. The freezing level was rising and was around 1130 metres by midday. ObservedSnowStability: Windslab instabilities are persisting and wet snow surface instabilities developing mainly on North through East to South aspects above 900 metres. Cornices, mainly to be found above these aspects, are prone to collapse. Fresh debris observed today on an East aspect at 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
