In sintesi

New snow and wet snow represent the main danger.

Problemi valanghivi

  • Wet snow

    • Above 1,800 m
  • New snow

    • Above treeline

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is moist. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to a loss of strength within the snowpack in some places in particular on very steep sunny slopes. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day.

Avalanche Activity

New snow and wet snow represent the main danger.

Up to the tree line and above rain has fallen since Monday over a wide area. In some localities 20 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 2000 m. The rain gave rise to increasing and thorough wetting of the snowpack. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of wet avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on very steep slopes. As the temperature drops there will be a gradual decrease in the avalanche danger towards the evening.
