Avalanche Activity

Slight increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind.

The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are in some cases prone to triggering. They can be released in isolated cases. This applies in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. The wind slabs are clearly recognisable to the trained eye. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation individual mostly small wet loose snow avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

5 to 10 cm of snow fell on Friday above approximately 1800 m. In these regions in all altitude zones hardly any snow is lying. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack on shady slopes.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
