Avalanche Activity

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will increase during the day. In addition the wind slabs should be taken into account.

As a consequence of warming during the day more moist loose snow avalanches are to be expected. On very steep grassy slopes more gliding avalanches are possible. Fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, above approximately 2200 m. The prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude. Sometimes avalanches are medium-sized.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area 15 to 40 cm of snow has fallen since Wednesday above approximately 1500 m. The high temperatures as the day progresses will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack. The wind was moderate to strong. In the vicinity of peaks wind slabs formed.

Tendency

As the day progresses as a consequence of new snow and strong wind there will be an increase in the avalanche danger within the current danger level.
