Winds on the peaks and highest ridge crests have increased and may redistribute the recent new snow onto leeward aspects. Be aware of the potential for small pockets of unstable snow to exist on leeward aspects. Today's sunshine may cause some shallow loose snow sloughs.
At the highest elevations westerly winds may begin to form isolated pockets of soft slab. These slabs could build to depths of 6 to 12 inches. A skier or rider who triggers one of these fresh slabs in very steep terrain could be knocked over and carried.
The possibility for light snow will increase by morning and continue through the day. One to two inches is expected in the Teton and Togwotee areas, with less expected in the southern areas. Winds are to decrease slightly overnight to having averages nearer to twenty miles per hour on Tuesday. Wind direction will vary from the southwest to the northwest. Mountain temperatures are to have highs in the mid-twenties.The general avalanche hazard is to be Low on Tuesday. The wind slabs that were forming this afternoon are expected to become less sensitive as the day progresses although changes in wind direction could move snow onto different aspects. In loaded terrain features at the upper elevations, the possibility to trigger isolated pockets of slab will exist. Watch for wind loading in and around avalanche starting zones and beware of terrain where even a shallow slab could injure someone if they were knocked off their feet.
