Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will remain well bonded and stable. Isolated, shallow deposits of fresh moderately bonded windslab will develop in some wind sheltered areas through the afternoon. Coire rims and gully tops with a North-East to South-East aspect over 1000 metres will be most affected. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Heavy rain at all levels overnight. Precipitation will turn to snow on the summits from late morning gradually turning to snow at lower levels as precipitation eases. The freezing level will fall to around 800 metres by the end of the afternoon. Winds will initially be very Strong Southerly becoming moderate North-Westerly by the end of the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: A mild wet day. The freezing level was above the summits with strong mainly Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is well bonded and stable. A very gradual thaw of the remaining snow continues. The avalanche hazard is Low.
