Avalanche Summary

Higher elevation wind-drifted slopes that face north, northeast, and east are the most likely places to trigger an avalanche. You can trigger a small avalanche in the newly drifted snow or deeper on buried weak layers. Steer around stiffer drifts below ridgelines or the sides of gullies. Lower-angle, wind-sheltered slopes will provide safe travel options.

Breezy and cloudy weather will limit the warming of the snow on Monday. However, with above-freezing temperatures expected, a short window of sun could be enough to make the new snow shed off steep slopes. Rollerballs and snow that makes your gloves wet when you squeeze it are signs the snow is wet. Avoid traveling on or below steep, sunny, and rocky slopes with wet snow.
