Avalanche Summary

Wind-drifted slopes at higher elevations are the most likely places you can trigger an avalanche. Stiffer slabs formed by strong northwest winds resting on weak snow below could break with your added influence and take you for a ride. By avoiding these slopes, you will greatly reduce your risk.

Also watch for sluffs on steep, shady aspects. These are becoming more frequent as the snowpack weakens at the surface.
