Avalanche Summary
A Special Avalanche Advisory for much of Colorado. Heavy snow and strong winds dramatically changed avalanche conditions. You can easily trigger large, deadly avalanches throughout President’s Day weekend.
Dangerous avalanche conditions persist. Avalanches may fail naturally or be easy to trigger on slopes over 30 degrees as winds shift to the west and northwest, loading snow onto a very weak snowpack. Use extra caution and create wide buffers to avoid steeper slopes and overhead hazards. Avalanches may break in unexpected ways or from a distance away from a slope. Seek out lower-angle wind-sheltered slopes as safer options.
