Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet. Unstable slabs up to 30 inches in depth lie upon a base of weak faceted snow. In steep terrain these slabs could fail upon approach to a slope or after a slope has been crossed several times. At the lower elevations where there is significantly less snow the general avalanche hazard is LOW.

The general avalanche hazard is expected to be CONSIDERABLE at the upper elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet) of the Teton area and MODERATE at the mid elevations of the Teton area and above an elevation of 8,000 feet in the Greys River/ Southwest Trails and Togwotee Pass/ Continental Divide Trails area. In these areas riders and skiers will have the potential to trigger sensitive surface slabs two to four feet in depth in avalanche terrain where old weak snow surfaces persist.
