Avalanche Activity

Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in steep terrain at elevated altitudes.

The more recent wind slabs can still be released in some cases especially on extremely steep shady slopes above approximately 2100 m. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads. As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase a little on rocky sunny slopes. Thus far only isolated mostly small dry and moist avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

The wind slabs of last week are lying on weak layers in particular on shady slopes above approximately 2100 m. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The wind was moderate to strong in the vicinity of peaks. Also at intermediate and high altitudes thus far only a little snow is lying.
