Forecast Snow Stability: From mid-afternoon fresh windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered areas, mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Accumulations gaining depth are not expected to be extensive and much will be deposited on bare ground. The old patchy snowpack will generally be stable in most locations. During the afternoon its surface will start to become firmer and refreeze as the freezing level drops. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be gale force West-South-Westerly for most of the period, easing Westerly during later afternoon. Precipitation overnight and during the morning will fall as rain at all levels, with the freezing level above the summits. During the afternoon the freezing level will drop to about 800 metres, and rain will turn increasingly to snow above that level. Observed Weather Influences: It was a mild morning with the freezing level above the summits and light rain at all levels. The afternoon was mainly dry and the freezing level slowly dropped to around 1100 metres. Winds were strong mainly South-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack continues to thaw and diminish at all levels, and is generally stable in most locations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
