Avalanche Activity

The danger of moist avalanches will increase.

More recent wind slabs can be released in some cases. Caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. In particular along the border with Switzerland the avalanche prone locations are more widespread. As a consequence of warming mostly small moist avalanches are possible, especially on very steep slopes, as well as at the base of rock walls.

Snowpack Structure

In all aspects snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2200 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. Below approximately 1800 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. On steep sunny slopes below approximately 2500 m a little snow is lying. The snowpack is not distinctly layered. Shady slopes: The snowpack consists of faceted crystals.

Tendency

The weather conditions will foster a gradual change towards better conditions on wind-loaded slopes.
