Avalanche Activity

CM for 13/2/22 Poor stability overnight N to E aspects above 900m. Progressively better stability later in the day. Moderate Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: A period of poorer stability overnight on steep North to East aspects above 900 metres. Progressive consolidation of snow in most locations during daylight hours. All cornices will be weak and prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Some sleety snow showers overnight near summits with rain at lower levels; drier from dawn onwards. Strong South-West airflow easing to light later. Slightly cooler. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snow showers transitioned to sleety snow with rain, occasionally heavy, below summits by mid morning. Very strong South-West winds. ObservedSnowStability: Period of poor stability during the early hours on steep North to East aspects during the transition from snow to rain. Recent wet snow avalanche debris noted in Easy Gully in Coire Ardair. Some early consolidation noted in snow in most locations much later in the day. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
