Forecast Snow Stability: Many wind exposed slopes will remain scoured and icy in places. Unstable windslab will be present in wind sheltered areas such as summit gullies and on slopes with a mainly North through East to South Easterly aspect above 850 metres, unstable cornices will exist above some of these locations. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Light snow showers will affect the area overnight and on Friday. Variable winds will decrease to fresh becoming mainly North-Westerly through the day. The freezing level will be around 400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: New snow overnight with snow showers and occasional sunshine today. Winds have been strong to gale force mainly from the West, the freezing level is around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Many slopes have been scoured by the recent stormy winds. Unstable windslab has formed mainly above 850 metres in wind sheltered locations such as summit gullies and on slopes with a mainly North-East through East to South-Easterly aspect. Weak cornices are present above some of these aspects. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
