Generally stable conditions exist across all elevations in the Seward and Lost Lake zones today. While it is unlikely that a person will trigger an avalanche, stay alert for small, isolated areas of unstable snow. Standard backcountry protocols remain essential as you move through avalanche terrain today. Expose only one person at a time to steep terrain, watch your partners from safe spots outside runout zones, and have your exit route planned in case a pocket of snow slides.

Recent Avalanches: There was a small skier-triggered wind slab avalanche at 1400' on Mt Eva 9-days ago. The avalanche was about 1’ deep, up to 100' wide.
The outflow winds continue, where unfortunately, the Seward zone will see more blow than snow today. Surfaces are mostly blown down to crusts, with very little soft snow left, making it unlikely that a person will trigger an avalanche today. However, that snow had to blow somewhere, so we can't entirely rule out the possibility that someone could trigger a stubborn wind slab today. If you find yourself in avalanche terrain, it is important to practice safe travel protocols. This includes traveling one at a time in steep terrain, watching your partners from safe spots outside of runout zones, and having an escape route planned before committing to a steep slope.
