Snow which fell over the past several days has drifted and formed slabs in wind exposed areas. These slabs may be up to eighteen inches or perhaps two feet deep, are likely to be soft and may be sensitive to triggering. Wind sculpted surfaces and shooting cracks signal danger. You are most likely to find these slabs above 8,500', near ridgetops and around cliffs. Warming temperatures may make these slabs more reactive until they settle.
