Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Main accumulations of deepest recent snow will be on North West through North to South East aspects above 800m. The snowpack in all locations will be wet or moist depending on altitude with wet snow instability on some very steep slopes and gullies above 950m. All cornices will be weak and prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate

Forecast Weather Influences: Dry for most of the period but some very light rain is possible at the very end of the day. Slightly cooler in the early part of the evening but noticeably milder temperatures at all altitudes for the remainder of the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snow showers died out leaving a dry day. South West winds eased to moderate. Cold at all levels overnight then milder from dawn onwards. ObservedSnowStability: Period of poor stability on steep North West through North to South East aspects above 900m. New weak cornices are present above all recent very steep lee slopes. Better stability on less steep ground at lower altitudes. The avalanche hazard is Considerable
