The recent snow and sustained strong winds have formed surface slabs to two feet in depth on steep leeward slopes at the mid and high elevations. These slabs vary in hardness and backcountry enthusiasts may trigger pockets of these slabs in the mountains today, particularly in wind loaded areas on very steep slopes and cliffy or rocky areas that are likely to carry severe consequences if someone were caught. At low elevations isolated pockets of shallow wind loaded snow may be triggered today on steep terrain. Yesterday recent natural activity was reported on Pucker Face, near JHMR and on similar East and N.E. slopes in the Snake River Range, and skier triggered slides were reported from Granite Canyon in GTNP.
