In sintesi

Avalanches are unlikely today as cooler temperatures keep the surface of the snow frozen which has seen several days of melt-freeze cycles. Low hazard does not mean no hazard exists and small isolated slabs could be triggerd in steep shaded terrain near cliff edges or in small wet loose slides at low elevations where snow remains.

Avalanche Discussion

Scattered mountain snow showers are possible in a northwest flow Thursday night. On Friday light snowfall could develop in a moist westerly flow ahead of another trough and Pacific cold front. This next system could bring another one to three inches of snow to the higher elevations Friday Night/Saturday Morning. Mountain temperatures are expected to drop to near 20 degrees at night and rise to near 30 degrees during the day. West winds at 20 to 30 miles per hour are forecast to back to the southwest Friday afternoon. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the Teton area. Mostly stable snow exists. Avalanches are unlikely except in isolated pockets in very steep cliff areas. The general avalanche hazard is expected to MODERATE in the Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass and Southwest Trails/Greys River Areas. In the Southwest Trails/Greys River area isolated pockets of new soft slab 4 to 8 inches deep could be human triggered in steep upper elevation avalanche starting zones. In both areas some potential remains for larger triggers such as snow machines to trigger deep hard slab avalanches in very steep avalanche prone terrain where weak deeply buried layers of faceted snow persist.
